I like the take on double-clicking into ...Michael,

I like the take on double-clicking into marketing requirements. In my take I had lumped them into the business and optimistically assigned them to a business process that needed to be interacted with.

I think you are adding a couple more key insights here actually.

One is that the function of the BPM is not holistically owned by marketing and therefore a web front on an application gets subjected to another set of rules outside of approved process. Secondly the release issue which I completely agree with. I had lumped that under optimization and the need to involve UX professionals directly in that process.

A lot of the discussions I have been in lately indicate that UX teams are simply moved on to the next project and often lack the valuable insight and ability to act on that insight that comes from staying on a project after deployment.

On the IT point, I don't see IT as a problem specifically, especially if they are already working with UX teams directly. I do however see the tension of having different requirements that may be hard to inject after the fact without damaging the vision for the experience.

Great discussion points. Thanks for commenting.bengeminiihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04685845749493982861noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-36655933.post-68126000233707320312010-09-18T17:39:05.732-07:002010-09-18T17:39:05.732-07:00In my experience with enterprise ux, the challenge...In my experience with enterprise ux, the challenge resides in competing priorities with stakeholders in marketing. Specifically around deciding how the web application or service will support customers at a fundamental level. For example, trying to build in multiple personalities into one product when two separate products would serve customers better.

Another fallacy in enterprise thinking is that they only have one shot at success with one giant release. In reality, smaller and frequent releases with a focus on a specific customer need reduces risk if failure. This approach also minimizes costs for the IT arm if the enterprise.

Does that make sense? I don't see it as an IT problem. I see it as a collaboration issue where the enterprise is an octopus that cannot coordinate the motion of all of it's arms.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-36655933.post-79953526335099759392010-07-16T07:17:10.956-07:002010-07-16T07:17:10.956-07:00Ben

Adobe is a world leading development company that has focused on the business of doing business. All aspects of the product development have been focused on things that you and I have had numerous discussions over, that being managing the business process, adapting the tools to reflect the way people really work and providing access to all of the appropriate information required at the correct time to enable someone to make the appropriate decision.

Integrated systems, open standards etc, all of this lead Adobe to what I assume would be the next logical step. That would be the customer experience. I think that because of the long standing work done by Adobe focusing around the process it has put your company at the forefront of the customer experience movement while other companies that are users of the technologies are a step or two behind.

A unique position to be in. Glad to see it coming about, and looking forward to seeing what comes next.

Just a thought, as organisations we can identify what we know, what works and, to perhaps a lesser extent, what doesn't work. The hardest thing I ever had to define in my past was quantifying what "we" as an organisation didn't know.

CheersJhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02398553683537561854noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-36655933.post-79312834613418754492010-06-17T05:42:40.916-07:002010-06-17T05:42:40.916-07:00Hah!
